Adult Recreational Speed Skating Program
Looking for inspiration for a way to achieve your New Year’s resolutions? The Fort St John Elks Speed Skating Club is offering an adult skating program that is targeted to beginning level skaters as an introduction to the sport. This will include two coached sessions per week, with additional ice time as available. We are focused on developing a community of adult speed skaters in a positive and low cost environment. The program will run from January 14 until the third week in March. Skating times will be Monday and Wednesday evenings from 8-9pm (coached) and Saturdays 10-11am (as available – no coach). The cost of the program is $250 and includes skate rental (first come, first served) and purchase of ankle protection (required safety gear). Click the following link to fill out the sign-up form:

After that we will contact you with further details. Don’t delay in signing up as limited spaces are available! Please spread the word to anyone you think would be a good fit! Contact Dan at dan.bastiaansen@gmail.com or 250-219-3663 if you have any questions.
Registration News! CALLING ALL PARENTS AND VOLUNTEERS (Also known as Associates)
Our registration system seems like it has arrived at a place where we can get all of our Associates to register. We require all of our volunteers and parents to register as Associates to ensure that you are all covered under our insurance from BC Speed Skating whenever you are helping out our club. This can be anywhere from helping set up the mats to being one of our board members. This is why we ask that at least one parent/guardian from each family (the one who will be bringing skaters to practice) become an Associate.
We are asking that all of our Associates register this week as we need to have you all in the system ASAP, particularly before our short track meet this weekend! You will need to log in to your account (family) https://affiliation.speedskating.ca/form# and add yourself as a member and don’t forget to click “register here” to sign yourself up as an associate! You will receive a confirmation email as soon as you are done. It all seems to be working smoothly now but if you have any problems, please email Susie at info@fsjspeedskating.com.
Please see the attached schedule of competitions to see which ones your skater is eligible for in the 2018-2019 season!
