      SKATE SHARPENING CLINIC

Thank you to everyone who attended the skate sharpening session last Tuesday

If you still have questions please ask. The sharpening equipment is in the timing office. If you borrow it, please sign it out and return it after use.

    ELECTRONIC TIMING: TRAINING AND TESTING

Thanks for attending the electronic timing clinic conducted by Sylvain Richard from RSS in Montreal. Sylvain was contracted by FinishLynx to install the electronic timing system last Thursday and Friday.

This past Saturday and Sunday Sylvain conducted a testing and training session which included

Electronic start system: Candace Clouthier (Dawson Creek) and Robin Lloyd (Fort St John) participated in this session.

Electronic timing using timer and photo cells: Skaters Hilda Bilodeau, Kaden Hagen, Connor Johnson, Jay Morrison and Wim Kok participated and quartet races for testing and training

Photo-finish equipment: The set-up and use of cameras and computer system, used to record the finish line images (at 200 frames per minute), which can then be analyzed to determine finish order and finish time.

Fascinating stuff! Thanks to Tara Mitchell, Jessica and Kim Telizyn for helping with the lap counting on Saturday. Participating in the clinic: Gill Bilodeau, Tymen Brigden, Ken Johnson, Dennis Morrison, and Wim Kok participated in the two-day training session. Thanks everyone.
